Artist’s Statement:

My recent paintings speak about the dimension “in between” two entities.  I am interested in the interaction between humanity and nature, between the inner and outer worlds, between reality and imagination. Opposite forces between two worlds bring attention to emotion, imagination and sensation and they evoke thoughts of new possibilities. The bridge “in between” inspires me to explore painting further.

I attempt to paint the world “in between” hands and their environment. Because I want to leave room in my work for interpretation and suggestion, I combine representation and abstraction in my work.

I experiment with traditional painting techniques together with variety of materials to create “collages” of paintings.  I enjoy working with the “unexpected and expected,”  “take and add” and with layers.

I often use mirror images (or reflection) of hands and their surroundings in my paintings. It allows me to imply ideas about reality and/or illusion and to make new discoveries.  The mirror (water and other reflective objects) represents for me the bridge “in between” two worlds. One world reflects the other. Despite all differences, they cannot exist without each other. Both worlds must coexist as one entity in order to perceive each other and themselves.

For me, the invisible world “in between” is timeless, spaceless and limitless. In this world there are no confines, only an ever expanding promise of change, as questions become our answers.

I found Rainer Marie Rilke’s poetry: “Hands are complicated organisms, a delta in which life from the most distant sources flows together, surging into the great current of action” revolutionary and inspiring.

It reinforces the need to re-think many issues about humanity, its origins and evolution and what humanity means in our world. I try to convey memories, imagination and emotions in my work which I believe are evidence of our humanity.

welcome to the world as seen through my eyes

There is certain energy “In Between”

Here and There

There and Here

“In Between” Me and You

You and Me

“In Between” Earth and Universe

Universe and Earth.

There is certain energy on the bridge "In Between".

The bridge of chaos where the order is implied though not obvious yet.

I am on that bridge.

Thoughts about Art

For me art harbours in exchange of abstract thoughts and emotions between the artist and viewer. There is no art without this intercourse. If the viewer is moved by the feelings and emotions that the artist felt and expressed in his/her work, then it is art.

Art stimulates mind and evokes emotions. Art explores the invisible and accessible way for everyone’s perceptions. Art brings fresh air to the palace of knowledge. Knowledge is limited, imagination is infinite.

The beauty of art is in diversity, freedom and creativity. There are unlimited ways and possibilities to express abstract ideas in art: but art is not the actual art piece, it is not a game and production of pleasing art objects. Art means to me the union among people, joining them together in a unified universal perception and moving them towards humanity.
