Using alcohol inks can be a fun way to use colors and create backgrounds for stamping or cardmaking. You can also use alcohol inks in painting and to add color to different surfaces such as glass and metals. The brightness of the color means that a small bottle will go a long way. Alcohol inks are an acid-free, highly-pigmented, and fast drying medium to be used on non-porous surfaces. Mixing colors can create a vibrant marbled effect and the possibilities can only be limitied by what you are willing to try. Encaustic is considered one of the most ancient painting techniques in the world. It is a paint that is composed of beeswax, damar resin and pigments. The world “encaustic’ comes from the Greek “encaustikos” “to burn in”, referring to the process of using heat to fuse the layers together. It was notably used in Favyum mummy portraits in Egypt around 100-300AD. This technique was lost for hundreds of years. It was re-discovered again in 18th century and it was reviewed in the twentieth century largely by Jasper Johns. Today, encaustic painting is experiencing revival. Students will learn in this workshop about the studio safety, how to make own encaustic medium, how to create mono prints & photo transfers and how to use hot wax in combination with other materials to create mixed media artwork. Experimenting will be highly encouraged. Students will have an opportunity to create their own artwork under Liba’s supervision or they will have an option to choose from projects that Liba will have available. The American Heritage Dictionary defines collage as “an artistic composition of materials and objects pasted over the surface, often with unifying lines and color” The origin of the word is French “coller ” to glue. Most collage is based on ordinary materials such as magazines, photos, fabric, wallpaper etc. The versatility of collage offers infinite possibilities for the arrangements and brings unusual formations. I will give my students useful tips and feedback about materials, themes and how to unify composition and colours. Students will have an opportunity to explore ordinary materials and to create extraordinary art work with them. Assemblage is an artistic form or medium usually created on a defined substrate that consists of three-dimensional elements projecting out of or from the substrate. It is similar to collage. Anyone can do it!
This workshop is designed for students of all ages (7 +), levels of experience and interests.

Cold wax is a soft paste made with beeswax that adds body, transparency and depth to oil paint. Interest in cold wax medium has been growing steadily in the past few years, as artists discover its beauty and versatility. Cold wax does not require the special ventilation and set up of encaustic, and allows the artist to build up textural effects and layers. It is a very freeing medium so artist does not have to worry about a lot of the oil painting rules he/she may have learned in the past. In this workshop Liba will help students to re-discover this versatile medium. Students will be encouraged to experiment not only with oil paint but also with charcoal, graphite and other materials that can be used with cold wax. They will also learn how to use variety of painting media together with cold wax and how to create layers and glazes to build the painting up. Every student will be provided with individual attention and feedback. Students will have an opportunity to choose own project/s and create cold wax artwork/s under Liba’s supervision (They can either bring own image/s or they can choose a project/s from assignments that Liba will provide). This one day workshop is designed for students of all levels of experience and interest.

There will be one day "Plein Air Painting/Drawing" workshop. The place, date and more information are pending; will be posted soon.
