Happy accidents happen when students begin to take chances and start experimenting with materials, techniques and ideas to explore the unknown and unpredictable. There will be no pressure to make a quality work at the end, as this will not be intended in this workshop. There will be an emphasis on an experimental art creating in the non-competitive and friendly atmosphere where creativity can flourish. Every student in the group will be provided with individual attention, instructions, demos and feedback. Students will be encouraged to use unconventional surfaces, materials and tools up to their choice and/or advice of the instructor. First half of the workshop will focus on learning how to use materials, surfaces and tools. The second half will emphasize creating actual art pieces.  Students will have an opportunity to create their own artwork under Liba’s supervision or they will have an option to choose from projects that Liba will have available. Beginners as well as professional artists are welcome:  This all week workshop is designed for students of all levels of experience and interest.

Do you have courage to cross over the border between known and unknown worlds? Do you appreciate surprise?  Do you have a sense of humour? Do you not have a competitive nature?  Do you like to have fun and play? If you answered any of these questions with “yes” then this workshop is designed for you!

Ancient techniques in art are in our modern world almost forgotten. Silverpoint (metal point) drawing, egg tempera and encaustic painting will be introduced and practised in this workshop. Students will learn how to use silver point drawing and egg tempera painting on already specifically prepared supports for both techniques. How to use formulas and how to prepare surfaces for the metal point drawing and egg tempera will be included.  Students will also learn about use of beeswax in art and about techniques in encaustic painting.
Students will be informed about the studio safety, how to make own encaustic medium, how to create mono prints & photo transfers and how to use hot wax in combination with other materials to create mixed media artwork. Experimenting will be highly encouraged. Students will have an opportunity to create their own artwork under Liba’s supervision or they will have an option to choose from projects that Liba will have available. Group demonstrations  as well as demos adjusted for each student individually will be included. Friendly critiques will be an essential part of this workshop.  This workshop is designed for students of all levels and experience. Students have to be min. 13 years old.
